Sigma Nu Fraternity Newsletter - December 2023
December 1, 2023
Dear Sigma Nu Brothers and Friends,
As we bid farewell to November and welcome the festive spirit of December, I am honored to address you as your Alumni Chair for this edition of our Sigma Nu newsletter. This month, we are delighted to feature a Brotherhood Chair Spotlight, shining a light on the outstanding contributions of Demetri Georgopoulos. Additionally, I am excited to announce that there will be a new Alumni Chair stepping into this role, as I pass the torch to a dedicated individual committed to the ongoing success of our fraternity.
Brotherhood Chair Spotlight: Demetri Georgopoulos
Allow me to introduce Demetri Georgopoulos, the current chaplain for Sigma Nu, and a true testament to the spirit of our brotherhood. Demetri's passion for Sigma Nu is palpable, and his commitment to creating a haven for all brothers during challenging times is truly commendable. In his own words:
"Hello,
My name is Demetri Georgopoulos, and I am the current chaplain for Sigma Nu. I chose to pursue this position because of the passion I have for the brotherhood in this wonderful chapter. When I came into college, it was in 2020, when the world stood still, and interacting with people seemed to be illegal. Sigma Nu provided me a haven for this, where I was able to be surrounded by great friends and role models, making the pandemic a far more enjoyable experience. I believe in paying it forward, and that is what I have strived to do.
During my tenure, I have attempted to have small- and large-scale events where everyone in the house can have an opportunity to participate in smaller activities, such as movie nights, pool tournaments, barbecues, planned hikes, etc. These events have brought people together and created closer connections amongst people who previously may not have realized they had commonalities. On a larger scale, I have had events such as mental health days, where the house can be viewed as a haven again, as it was for me.
I am grateful for my opportunity to serve as chaplain and look forward to seeing how Jackson Cotner improves upon the foundations I have attempted to lay."
Demetri's dedication to fostering connections within our fraternity and creating a supportive environment is truly inspiring. Join us in expressing our gratitude for his outstanding contributions.
New Leadership: Welcoming a New Alumni Chair
As we embrace the holiday season, I am excited to announce that there will be a new Alumni Chair taking the reins. This transition marks a continuation of our commitment to the vibrant future of Sigma Nu. The new Alumni Chair, whose name will be revealed shortly, brings fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to lead our fraternity into the next chapter of its storied history.
I am confident that the new Alumni Chair will build on the foundations we've laid together, fostering unity and growth within our Sigma Nu community. Please join me in welcoming and supporting our incoming Alumni Chair as they embark on this fulfilling journey.
